Cara Bowen holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a Graduate Certificate in Substance Use Counseling from the University of Georgia, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Christian Counseling from Liberty University. She brings 25 years of professional experience working within the child welfare system, supporting children and families in crisis who are navigating complex emotional and systemic challenges.
Cara is deeply passionate about helping children and families reach their fullest potential. Her primary theoretical orientation is strengths-based and trauma-informed, grounded in cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused approaches. She believes in empowering clients by identifying their existing strengths and resilience, while equipping them with practical tools to manage life’s challenges. Cara often incorporates cognitive-behavioral techniques to address unhelpful thought patterns and foster positive behavior change—particularly when working with youth and families impacted by trauma, separation, or instability. Her practice is also informed by systems theory, recognizing the critical influence of family, community, and broader institutional structures on a person’s well-being.
