Julie began her work in child welfare and advocacy as a CASA Volunteer in 2004. Julie's passion is deeply rooted in helping to motivate, guide and support those in need. Julie has spent many years achieving successful permanency for children, developing valuable partnerships through relationship cultivation and expanding her knowledge of our local community resources to best serve our children and families.
She advocated for a number of children prior to joining the staff of Forsyth County Department of Family and Children’s Services office in 2008 serving as a Foster Care Case Manager and Supervisor.
Julie was most recently employed with CASA of Forsyth County as an Advocacy Specialist, where she developed the Collaborative Family Engagement initiative for the Forsyth County CASA program (based on Texas CASA's model), supported volunteers and led new volunteer training. Additionally, Julie is a paralegal and has worked in a variety of law firms.
Julie received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, with an emphasis in Juvenile Justice from Edgewood College in Madison, WI. She completed an internship at a halfway house for juvenile males while in WI. Julie also received a Paralegal Certificate from Milwaukee Area Technical College.
